Accessibility Statement

ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT
Last updated: September, 2026

Little Birdies Boutique® is committed to making our website, shoplittlebirdies.com, accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe every parent, grandparent, and gift-giver should be able to shop with us with ease.

Our Standard
We are working to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the internationally recognized standard for web accessibility and the benchmark referenced by the U.S. Department of Justice under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Our efforts include:

  • Regular accessibility testing of our site using automated tools and manual review, including keyboard-only navigation and screen-reader testing.
  • Descriptive alternative text for product images and graphics.
  • Sufficient color contrast between text and backgrounds.
  • Clear headings, labels, and link text so pages are easy to navigate.
  • Forms, menus, and checkout that can be completed using a keyboard alone.
  • Captions or transcripts for video content where provided.
  • Working with our platform provider, Shopify, and our theme developers to address accessibility in updates.

Ongoing Work
Accessibility is a continuing effort, not a one-time project. Our site includes content and features from third-party providers (such as payment, registry, and review tools) that we do not fully control, and some older content may not yet meet our standard. We review our site on an ongoing basis and remediate issues as they are identified. We conducted our most recent accessibility review on September 2026.

Alternative Ways to Shop
If you have difficulty using any part of our website, we are glad to help you complete a purchase, find a product, or access information in another way. Contact us and we will assist you promptly by phone or email: hello@shoplittlebirdies.c o m

Feedback
We welcome your feedback. If you encounter an accessibility barrier on our site, please tell us which page or feature you were using, what happened, and what assistive technology or browser you were using, if any. We will respond within [two] business days and work to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Third-Party Content
Our site may link to or embed content from other websites and services. We do not control their accessibility and encourage you to contact those providers directly with concerns.

What actually protects you

  1. Run a scan today. Free tools like WAVE (wave.webaim.org), axe DevTools, or Chrome's Lighthouse will flag the most common problems in minutes: missing alt text, low contrast, unlabeled buttons, and form fields without labels. These are the exact issues named in nearly every lawsuit.
  2. Fix the big four. Add alt text to every product image (Shopify lets you do this per image), make sure the cart, menus, and checkout work with Tab and Enter, check contrast on that yellow brand color against white text, and confirm every button and link has readable text, not just an icon.
  3. Use an accessible theme. Shopify's own themes are built to WCAG standards; heavily customized third-party themes often aren't. If yours is older, ask the theme developer for their accessibility statement.
  4. Be careful with "overlay" widgets. Products like accessiBe and UserWay promise one-line compliance. Several businesses using them have still been sued, and the disability community broadly considers them inadequate. They are not a substitute for fixing the site.
  5. Document everything. Keep the dates of your scans, what you fixed, and any customer feedback. If a demand letter arrives, a paper trail of good-faith effort is your strongest position.
  6. Consider a professional audit. A one-time WCAG audit for a small store typically runs a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars, far less than settling a claim.
